Back in 2015,

During the reconnaissance dive for the annual Harbour Clean-Up, Rob spotted something underwater that he initially thought was a sunken ship’s buoy. But as he got closer in the gloom, he instantly recognized it as one of the "Jupiter bollards" from along the Wellington Waterfront above!Rob was surprised to find one and noticed it was almost completely full of sediment, making it extremely heavy. So had planned to recover at the next possible occasion. Thwarted by bad visibility and other cleanup tasks - the Jupiter stayed hidden.

Fast forward nearly ten years

Fast forward nearly ten years to our most recent Annual Harbour Cleanup, and thanks to the efforts of Calvin and Brian, not only did they locate the bollard—they successfully recovered it! Rob was surprised on both counts 🙌

A huge thank you to the incredible volunteer scuba and free divers who make these clean-ups possible, and continue to remove rāpihi from our ocean year after year!
