Haylee Tehuia-Claxton wins Underwater Photo prize
Kaikoura photographer's anemone nets $500 prize

Kaikoura diver and keen underwater photographer Haylee Jade Tehuia-Claxton has won first prize in the Underwater Photos category of this year's LegaSea Summer Photo Competition. Her success nets her not just bragging rights - she also takes home a $500 voucher from Splash Dive, suppliers of a huge range of underwater equipment.
Haylee won the category with her picture of an anemone, which she took while scuba diving on the inside of a Kaikoura reef. "The colours really stood out against the brown of the seaweed," says Haylee. "Because Kaikoura is typically low viz diving, I'm usually on the lookout for cool macro critters. Not many people realise how colourful cold water diving can be!"

"I'm stoked!" exclaimed Haylee when the New Zealand Underwater team called to tell her she'd won. She plans to use her $500 on a new underwater torch, and to stock up on a few scuba spares and clips - 'You can never have too many clips!" she laughs.
Congratulations Haylee from everyone at New Zealand Underwater and Dive Pacific!
