The Australia New Zealand Marine Biotechnology Society (ANZMBS) is holding its 2026 Australia New Zealand Marine Biotechnology Conference from August 26th - 28th at The University of Waikato, Tauranga.

The event spotlights advances in marine biotechnology that intersect with ocean stewardship, environmental protection and sustainable use of marine resources.

The programme brings together over 200 researchers, founders and industry leaders working on innovations that support healthier coastlines, resilient marine ecosystems and new ocean-based products and technologies.

The 2026 theme is 'Cultivating Connections for a Resilient Blue Economy'

Beyond presentations, delegates will have opportunities to build practical skills through hands-on workshops focused on innovation and commercialisation capability, supported by strong networking channels designed to spark cross-disciplinary collaboration between science, industry and community stakeholders.

The programme will include a strong local Aotearoa flavour, with a session hosted at Huria Marae and optional field trips.

Topics of interest include sustainable aquaculture, marine bioproducts derived from algae and other organisms, novel biomaterials, ocean-based pharmaceuticals, digital and AI tools for marine monitoring, and environmental technologies that contribute to restoration, conservation and climate resilience.

Early bird registration is now open.
